Nissan Invests More $$ and Manpower into Long-Standing Habitat for Humanity Partnership

Last week, Nissan Americas announced a $2.5-million contribution to international non-profit Habitat for Humanity and invited all of its stakeholders to collaborate in the alliance as well. Beyond financial support, Nissan is also planning to promote Habitat for Humanity in all of their point-of-sales materials, giving the non-profit greater exposure than ever before.

The goal: to entice at least a few Nissan consumers to donate a little bit of their sacred time to the most worthy cause of providing homes to the less fortunate. Nissan is even providing consumers with the opportunity to make donations in the form of time or money, at a local Habitat for Humanity chapter, on the Nissan Americas website.

"Our [six-year] relationship with Habitat will lead to new opportunities for Nissan owners and our dealer partners to get involved in future Habitat builds, " says Bill Krueger, Vice Chairman, Nissan Americas. "Both Nissan and Habitat are committed to sustainability, so it's fitting that our dollars will also support sustainable construction practices in Habitat affiliates nationwide..."1

How will Habitat for Humanity use Nissan's donation? Well, in addition to building materials and other operations expenses, the organization plans to host sustainability "summits" for affiliates and their local communities. Additionally, a large portion of the donation will go toward hosting the annual Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Haiti, which starts next month.
